Lead Testing Requirement for Child Care Centers

Sol Environmental can provide water testing and analytical services to help you identify if the water in your Child Care Center is exposing children, teachers, and employees to Lead as required by State of California.

The State of California-Health and Human Services Agency Department of Social Services issued a written directive for Lead testing in Child Care Centers on May 28, 2020 requiring that “all Child Care Centers constructed before January 1, 2010 test their cold-water outlets used for drinking and/or cooking for lead within a three-year window between January 1, 2020 and January 1, 2023.” Subsequent testing must occur every 5 years after the date of the first test. Only CCCs are required to test drinking and cooking water for lead

According to EPA: "Exposure to lead is a significant health concern. The growing bodies of children and infants absorb more lead than the average adult. Drinking water is one possible, but not the only, source of lead exposure. Infants whose diets consist of formula may get lead exposure from tap water used to make the formula."
